'Ash Tree House' was built in 1851 as a farmhouse called 'The Hawthorns' and was for some time in the 19th century the home of Victorian novelist Thomas Hall Cain. The house still retains many of its period features and has been our home for the past 20 years. We are a ten minute walk from the town and are handy for the bus stop to Penrith Railway Station.
The house stands on the C2C cycle route and as well as locked storage for cycles we have plenty of parking for a support vehicle. A few minutes from Castlerigg Stone Cicle, this is an ideal base for touring the Lakes.
We have plenty of off street parking which is a bonus when the town is busy.
